Doctor Adrian Tries Out for American Gladiators

American Gladiators tryouts were held at the Fitness Expo at the LA Convention Center on February 9. Doctor Adrian had already completed the 38 page application by the time he showed up to the try-outs. Having just finished with a Saturday afternoon work at the office, Dr. Adrian still had to change out of his work clothes and into his workout clothes.

"I saw two people in the bathroom dry heaving, and throwing up when I went to the restroom to get changed," explains Dr. Adrian. "They explained that they had just got through (barely) the Gladiator performance tests," said one man.

Dr. Adrian had been training for high endurance and plyometric types of workouts for the last 2 months using the P90x DVD series. "I felt ready to do whatever they ask, but I knew it wouldn'g be easy." This is what follows:

1. 30 seconds of pullups: Dr. A does 24.

2. 30 seconds of up-downs (pushups followed by a frog leap into the air): Dr. Adrian completes 23.

3. Sideways run through a ladder and back : No problems there.

4. 10 yard shuttle runs x 10: I don't know the time it took for me to finish, but I was really glad to be finished!

At the end of the bursting sprints and all out effort, Dr. Adrian was utterly exhausted, dizzy, and out of breath for the next 15 minutes. There was a short interview following the physical component where they asked about random items from his application.

Doctor Adrian receives a callback 2 days later, where he was interviewed on camera, where they asked more details about his life.

"I felt like having the baby just 6 months prior, and being able to balance work, business, and family along with intensive physical conditioning was what the people at American Gladiators were looking for. A balanced, well rounded civilian who was willing to take on the Gladiators."

We'll keep you posted on any future callbacks!
